Blackthorn / Sloe

Shrub to small tree in size. Thorns. The fruits are about the size of grapes and blue/black (I think they are sloes and therefore very tart but edible - if mixed with gin! Perhaps someone may be able to confirm my identification?

You soak them in gin for about 6 months and alas you have sloe Gin.If you fancy a go there are loads of recipes on the web.
