I think it is a marine polychaete worm similar to some we get in the UK.
Oh for sure - now I have a name I've looked it up and there are lots like it! I just didn't know where to start looking before. I was always fascinated by the vivid colouring and the size too, which was quite intimidating when I almost walked into the pool! Thanks a lot
