This small brown mouse was spotted by girls who noticed a little blood on one paw. We brought it in where it is warmer but sadly it died very soon afterwards.
No interactions present.
I think you identified this right - the ears are too big, the tail too long and the coat the wrong coour to be a house mouse. Its more likely to be Wood Mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus) than Yellow-necked Mouse but I don't think you can rule that out from the photo. Yellow-necked Mouse is associated with ancient woodlands and may be on the edge of its range at your location, but in winter time they do move into buildings (they are sometimes called 'Church Mice').
