Thank you, it could have been fox as I know there was a fox around but I thought that maybe it was a smaller animal. I know it is difficult to tell size from the photo (I was on a holiday walk so no ruler in pocket) but that is a moss at the side of it to give some idea of size.

I didn't notice any smell but did find similar poo in other places in the area. It was woodland on the edge of Loch Lomond.

These are a little thin for fox, but such things depend on diet and the animals, erm . . . movements.

However, the whole dropping appears twisted which, with the apparent size, indicates stoat rather than fox I think. However, it is hard to be sure.
