Family Papaveraceae. Tall 50-70cm, much-branched perennial found in hedgerows, banks and wood edges. Stems when broken (they are brittle at joints) release an acrid yellow-orange juice. Flowers bright yellow, 4 petals not overlapping, leaves pinnate with broad lobes, greyish bloom. Stalks hairless. Elongated seed-pods approx 25-30mm not present in this photo. Flo. May-Sept.
