Meliscaeva

It is not Meliscaeva cinctella, nor Melangyna cincta, as the spots on tergite 2 are 'golf club' spots, as in Syrphus, whereas those two species have spots broadly yellow at the margin. I don't really see why it could not be Syrphus vitripennis or similar.

OK - I give up! I still find

OK - I give up! I still find it difficult to see it as Syrphus - these bands are very straight on the rear edge, and I'm not convinced about the golfclub spots on T2. But life is too short to argue about some things!
