Description:

I found this in my dogs hair whilst grooming theres no way it had been there long, but is very strange?! Its about the size of a small nut and would fit on the end of your pinky, Seems to have 8 legs and 3 feeler things.. Picture taken with it turned upside down, moves extremely slow, any identification would be great. I think it must have been picked up in the garden or on a walk. Thanks

Need

You need to edit your observation to invertebrates, also if you get any more on your dog don't pull them off as part of the tick stay's in the dog and can become infected, let them drop off or you can buy tick removers and a cream that you put on them which makes them fall off.

Thanks for the quick answer..

Thanks for the quick answer.. yea it was disposed of! Didnt relise tick's could be this big hehe, I have a long haired collie and i imagine it will be pretty difficult to find them if they are dug deep however this one did basically fall out onto the floor so hope for no infection.

Thanks

Collie too

I have two Collie dogs and have only ever had one infection but your tick has all its legs and biting parts still on it so you should be fine. They tend to go for around the face behind ears and under the armpits(I know dogs don't have arms) groin area and in between toe pads,so just have a look there after a walk basically were skin is visible.
