Little Brown Mushrooms

Observed: 7th February 2010 By: captainmishcaptainmish’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

Small reddish brown mushrooms, found growing in a circle on open grass. Caps 1-3cm, widely spaced light brown/red gills


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

This is a very tentative

This is a very tentative guess at ID, and I'm sure there are lots of other things this could be. Deceivers are difficult to identify anyway as they are rather variable, but the the colour and form fit you 'shroom. I perhaps wouldn't expect to see them around this late in the winter - although they do persist well beyond the autumn.
