Party of 12 bottlenosed dolphins worked their way northwards along Blackpool promenade on the dropping tide this morning feeding on mackerel...just one angling boat out and right in their path.

Agree that from the photos they could be a different larger dolphin sp. Although the pics show they aren't Risso's Dolphins which is the most frequently recorded other species in the eastern Irish Sea but not seen off the Fylde coast for at least 15 and maybe nearer 20 years now.
The magic of nature is all around us - we just need to learn how to see it.
Interesting comment about not seeing Risso's for so long when they are so common nat that far south on the Welsh coast.
