ph3865’s reputation in Plants

This is the second year that one of these has turned up in the front garden (in different locations) but the first time one has flowered. It is about 1m tall (or would be 1m along the ground if I hadn't staked it to be out of the way of the lawnmower) with the large leaves near the base about 10cm across. The edges of the leaves are entire and non revolute. The undersides have slight hairyness on the spines but top is smooth and shiny. I don't even know if it is a wild plant or a domestic escape as I've been unable to find anything like it in any guides.

Disagree with identification

The flower looks like chicory but the leaf is completely different.
