Ladybird larva

This 10mm creature was found on a Virburnam tree which had previously been infested with aphids. It isn't our usual ladybird larva and looks vaguely like a rove beetle larva. The mouth-parts are formidable.

Well observed, most lacewing larvae do indeed feed on aphids.
