Slightly bigger than a house sparrow. White front. Newcomer to garden. Not seen before. Had snowed heavily the day before.

We see lots of dunnock. Used to seeing them. We don't usually have a problem identifying them. That said, we couldn't come up with a satisfactory identification.
The grey underparts, thin dark beak and streaky flanks confirm this as a dunnock. The snow under the fence seems to be reflecting onto the bird's underparts and making it look unusually bright. The photo shows that the underparts are not as white as they appeared to the observer.
