Description:

Recently at Crockford Stream in the New Forest, there were plenty of Small Red Damselfly and Southern Damselfly males, I also found 2 females. This female is covered in mites, poor thing.
Smallshire and Swash says it's difficult to tell the female Southern from the melanogastrum form of Small Red. They say to look for presence of the males to help distinguish. Great!
I think this is a female Small Red and my other post, a female Southern.
