Purple fungus

Observed: 14th August 2011 By: ChalkieChalkie’s reputation in Fungi and LichensChalkie’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

vivid purple cap and stem, but gills not purple - pinkish brown (similar to mushrooms - not the well-spaced out sort with short ones between the main ones). Largest one about 2cm across, caps mostly conical. Growing in grass. Have tried web search but only found species that didn't match.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
