Metoecus paradoxus

This insect flew in from the garden to my bathroom. I captured it and took some photographs of it.The first set of wings appear to be almost like a beetles but the rest of the insect resembles a parasitic fly of some kind. Its actually a beetle and a parasite of Common Wasps.
This website http://wbrc.org.uk/worcrecd/Issue13/metoecus.htm provides some excellent information. I too have Common Wasps nesting in the eves of my roof space.
