Dragonfly Identification

Thank you for the help so far, but I'm not sure I can agree with Southern Hawker for the following reasons; wings 'swept back', blue markings whole length of abdomen & note the fuzzy (hairy) thorax.

Has anyone anymore thoughts?

Hi Michael, the spots on

Hi Michael, the spots on abdominal segments 9 and 10 are joined to form a band which indicates Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea)

Thank you

Richard

Thanks for this I've compared the abdomen end segments to the pictures on:-

This & time of year confirms your identification.

Thanks for your help & putting up with my questions

Mike
