The species ID is correct - but it's a female, not a male as you suggest.

and similar correction on Ischnura elegans. As you can tell, I'm finding these IDs quite difficult.

Species IDs are correct!

Don't worry too much, immature males/females of some species can look very similar (and androchrome females of many damselflies are barely different from males).

Initially you have to learn to recognise the sexes by features like the shape of the abdomenal appendages and presence/absence of an ovipositor or male secondary genitalia.
