Crane fly

not a crane fly, because it has two pairs of wings, no halteres, a wasp waist, mouth parts not protruding, legs subequal, hind body laterally compressed, etc

Wasp not Crane fly.

Thanks for the id and comment. I thought it was a wasp when I was photographing it. I got a genuine Crane fly at the same location and that threw me off the track. When I posted both observations that one got the question mark in the title that was intended for this one. I'm going to edit the title of this one to "ichneumonid wasp" to help me when I need to refer to it again.
