GRAHAM D's picture

This is a ' Copper Underwing agg'

Almost impossible to separate Copper Underwing from Svenson's Copper Underewing without disection.
Most moth recorders will log it as 'Copper Underwing agg'

Thanks Graham - I can see

Thanks Graham - I can see that in my ID book now!! Shame I didn't get to see its underwings.

Features

From forewing features this looks most like Copper Underwing rather than Svensson's Copper Underwing but as Graham notes the most reliable (non-dissection) character is the underside of the hindwing - although even this is not absolutely reliable.
