Curious Distribution

Seems like a slightly curious distribution pattern for this species in the UK, to me. Dijkstra/Lewington says that the larvae like sandy bottoms with detritus". I wonder if that's the key?

I've seen them only in France so maybe I need a trip to Wales to revisit some of my youth.
