Growing in tufts little more than 30 cms high, in ancient woodland. Bracts around flower (6 in total)have green midrib, whitish margins - together with short white feathery styles gives appearance of whitish flower. No intermediate leaves on flowering stems. Plant without hairs. Leaf immediately beneath flowers narrow (about 1.5 mm) and about three times as long as inflorescence. Flowering mid-July.
