You can't identify the males

You can't identify the males of the lucorum complex without a very expensive chemistry set. The collar characters are only valid for females, and a lot of folk have given up even on these!

B. lucorum complex

Many thanks. Do you know what cuckoo bumblebees are associated with the B. lucorum complex?

B. bohemicus seems to work

B. bohemicus seems to work with everything we think of as lucorum s.l. I don't have proof that it lives with magnus, but I regard magnus as distinct from the real problem complex which is lucorum s.s., cryptarum and whatever others are lurking out there as yet unrecognised.
