That is the..............

That is the cutest thing I have ever, ever, ever, ever, seen. Apart from the slow worm which I found in my compost heap, which was a little cuter. Sadly I don't have a picture of him/her otherwise you'd agree. Although yours is definitely cuter that Bill Oddie, but not quite as good looking as Kate Humble. On a serious note, is it possible to sex these legless lizards easily?

Sexing slow-worms

In general, females are fatter and more square in section. Males are more rounded, generally smaller. If you know where to squeeze (gently!), you can apparently evert the male genitalia. Not sure if you should try this in a first date, though.
I'll post another picture that shows (I think) 2 females and a male.

Slow worm

From the size comparison with your finger this appears to be a young animal. Females have dark stripes down the side of the body and more scale patterning; males are very plain in comparison. Therefore, being young I can not be certain though your animal does appear to have a faint line down the side making it a female.
