Brown scaled fungi

Found just outside the woods, in the grass, 6 or 7 of these fungi. The stem starts off shaggy, then seems to go smooth as it ages. The cap starts round, though not perfectly round, and opens out flat. The gills seem to start off white, then go pink (as seen through the hole), and later become brown. The mature fungus (sorry no photo - memory card full) has flat cap, brown gills and had diameter of about 25cm!


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
