I've just joined and uploaded a photo. I didn't see a description box so was unable to add text. I'm not a university graduate and am finding this site very very difficult to navigate. I'm very keen to know what the insect is that I photographed in my garden and that is very fond of the 'lambs ears' and have been encouraged to try this site by a nature programme on Radio 4 but am feeling very frustrated at the difficulty of using this site. all the instructions and video have left me feeling utterly stupid.

Hi mrs B, Welcome to iSpot.

Hi mrs B,
Welcome to iSpot. Please don't feel stupid!
There's a lot of stuff on this website, and iSpot is fantastic once you've got the hang of it, but it can take a bit of time to get used to it!
I think clicking on this help page here http://www.ispot.org.uk/help-more might be a good place to start, it tells you how to make an 'observation' - for example of your insect that is on 'lambs ears'. Don't worry about trying to identify the species, others will help for that. The key things you need to do after you've clicked on "Add an observation" is to upload your photograph from your computer, and to add the location of the insect. (This is a bit complicated the first time you do it, but once the information is in there it will be there for next time you log in.)
Hope you perserve, it is a lovely site, but it does take a bit of getting used to!
Best wishes,
Sarah
