Description:

One old name for dragonflies was horse-stinger. Looking at these markings, I think I can see why that might be.
I spent considerable time trying to catch a perched Golden-ringed in the New Forest last September - fruitlessly. Then, in France this year, this specimen calmly sat within four feet of me trembling her wings (I think it's a female). We almost missed it completely. Almost.
