Calystegia sepium - Bindweed

This is the first time I have identified bindweed - never knew what it looked like. This is a strong and persist plant (weed) that as you can see will climb around anything to make its presence known - this is climbing up around a tree that sits on the bank of the canal, interlacing itself with the branches and leaves at a low level. A pretty plant to look at, but it consumes all the space it can and will suffocate other species if not maintained. It has a wonderful simple tubular flower what I liken to a Petula. I now I know what this plant looks like I can remove from my garden toot sweet :-)
