bee-eaters

This pair of bee-eaters bred at hampton bishop 2005. I arrived early one morning after the R.S.P.B had announced they were there. The R.S.P.B. had waited until they were positive the eggs had hatched before they let the public know about the site.Unfortunately a fox had predated the nest the night before and eaten the young. The picture I took is of the parent birds with bee's in there beaks waiting to feed their young that were no longer there. The most exotic meal that fox has ever had I think. Sad to see the parents like that but thats nature for you.
