I'm often intrigued -

by the way various butterflies can be either very nervous, or apparently quite sedate. I recently spent a frantic half-hour following some Marbled Whites around a site - they just wouldn't settle for more than a couple of seconds. Then, within a few minutes, several of them became quite calm, and I managed to take some reasonable shots.
I assume that the weather - especially temperature - has a lot to do with it.

How interesting!

I had a similar experience with Marbled Whites on holiday although not at the same site. Two actually landed on my hand in one field when previously at other locations they had hardly settled. I wonder if the wind ruffles them, I know when I was teaching KS1 (Infants) the wind seemed to have a marked effect on their behaviour!
