Very active in sunny weather. A lovely deep orange butterfly which hides in Bracken, quite frequent along local river valleys in the hills.

Its only rival is B.euphrosyne -

and that species stays along the Solway coast to the South of here. I've some very sharp close-ups from several years ago, and reported to Butterfly Conservation on them.
