Is this Pyrochroa serraticornis??

Observed: 11th July 2011 By: oldsteveoldsteve’s reputation in Invertebrates

Description:

I am confused by Cardinal beetles - there seem to be several species of red beetle that people refer to. This is far and away the most common one I see in Derbyshire.

The fact that -

they are on Hogweed or a relative, and are mating, suggests that they are Rhagonchia fulva, the commonest species.
As children (1960s) we called them "bloodsuckers", but in these less innocent days they're often called "Hogweed Bonking Beetles".
