So what distinguishes Duchesnea indica from Fragaria vesca?
The leaves of Duchesnea are matt while those of Fragaria are shiny. Also the ruff of sepals under the fruit is large and distinctive. Fragaria also generally has more than one flower/fruit per stem while in Duchesnea they are solitary. When in flower it is much more obvious as Duchesnea has yellow petals.
