This is the only member of the Cucurbitaceae family to grow wild in Britain.
This should be Bryonia dioica.
Thanks for the inputs. I think cicta58 might be right. Following the comments above, I've compared on-line photos and my own and looked more closely at the leaf shape. There does seem to be confusion about the name in other places too.
