Is this likely to be the same species that I know as butterbur?

Petasites es fragrans

Sarah - unfortunately not - Butterbur is a related plant in the same genus - Petasites hybridus. It does however have the extra cachet of being native, which of course P. fragrans is not, being a garden escape, although it does do very well in some places.

Petasites fragrans

I saw this growing in boggy ground near Woburn Bedfordshire a few years ago. Provides excellent ground cover. I must have a look to see if it flowering this year
