Notes: As far as I can discover there is no reliable way of identifying unreared adults. On range this is much more likely to be Z. lonicerae. Here, near Bristol trifolii has almost completely disappeared, being replaced by lonicerae some time since the war. When i researched local populations several years back I concluded that careful comparison of wing shape might work but the sexes differ more than the species so you need to sex them then compare specimens. It did not help that many collections i looked at appeared to be mixed species. The only reliable way I found was to rear them and use the characters of both the larvae and the adults
