Part of some local woodland - which was partly 50-year old conifer plantation - has recently been clear-felled but the old roots have not been dug up.
So 'coppiced' trees are already starting to sprout from the felled broad-leaved boles - including oaks, beeches etc.
What, however, is this? I assume it's some sort of maple/sycamore but it's obviously not 'normal'.
Can anyone identify/confirm the species exactly, please?
