Description:

BBCs "Snow Watch" programme discussed unusual behaviour triggered by the harsh cold spell of weather. Not sure I've ever seen a Cormorant on an electricity pylon before!

Not unusual near me!

Where power cables pass through areas with suitable feeding areas (gravel pits etc.), but few safe roosting areas, such as large dead trees, Cormorants soon learn to make use of them. In my area it is not unusual to find up to ten Cormorants using a pylon as a safe resting spot during the day.
