Fungi (?) on red currant twig

Observed: 20th June 2011 By: PatrickroperPatrickroper’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens
20110614 Red currant fungi 005

Small growths that look like crowded bracket fungi, but the white structure under the brown lid is powdery and, seemingly, bilaterally divided.
The red currant on which it is growing appears to be quite healthy implying that this 'plant' has not penetrated within the woody red currant twig.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
