Snail heaven Angelica Ct 06-06-2008 20-21-58
Description:

Common garden snail Cornu aspersum (used to be called Helix aspersa)
Banded snail Cepaea nemoralis
Would you believe the density of snails on this plant (a crucifer) that is almost completely defoliated!
I took this picture at night, when it was very damp and warm.
The plant grows in a walled bed (more of a walled trough really) that is a refuge for snails.

herd of snails

There's at least one more snail species in the photo as well, not sure but could be one of the Oxychilus species.
