Description:

Can anyone tell us what kind of mouse this is, which must have climbed up the vertical wooden post of our pergola and then jumped approx 1 foot across to the bird feeder containing peanuts? It stayed for several minutes, until disturbed by our movement.

Mouse not vole

I think you can see enough of the animal's breast to tell there is no banding, therefore I am fairly certain it is a wood mouse.
