Ancient Oak Tree observed by a drainage ditch in Newstead Woods, Orpington. Using the method suggested on www.stuffynwood.com of girth divided by 1.25cm, this tree is approx. 360 years old. I observed green algae and moss. There was also grey/green floriose lichen. The moss and the lichen were both present on the side of the tree away from the drainage ditch; the side facing the ditch was clear. Deadwood was present in Crow but not on the ground and holes were present in the stem. The height of the tree was approximately 18m.
