One of the biggest problems with identifying a specimen from a photograph is trying to get an idea of scale. The size of an object can be obvious to the photographer as he or she can see it in the context of the immediate surroundings. However, present that object as a "cold" picture and that context disappears. So an appeal to anyone taking a specimen into a classroom or a laboratory - please put a ruler in the picture and if you can support the inside picture with a view of the specimen in its habitat then even better.
