This strange behaviour was observed in the middle of the afternoon on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. What appears to be the rear end of an insect thrust itself out of a small circular hole cut in a bamboo.
The insect gyrated slowly before disappearing back into the hole. There were many cicadas about and also several types of bees although nothing was seen to go up to the hole. Any ideas what this could be or what was going on?
