Wasp/sawfly?

Observed: 12th June 2011 By: StuElsomStuElsom’s reputation in InvertebratesStuElsom’s reputation in InvertebratesStuElsom’s reputation in Invertebrates
Wasp 7953
Description:

A small and compact wasp with striking yellow/black legs. It was in an area of blackthorn hedge. Most noticeable was the fact that it landed with wings in a v (triangular) but within a few seconds it pulled its wings in so that they laid flat over the body, most similar to a sawfly or sand wasp. It was less than an inch in length and quite numerous in the wood.
