Description:

pale yellow/green mass of what looked like eggs,on a rotten tree lying on the ground. First thought was lichen, but closer inspection revealed them to be eggs. Whole mass was approx. 24cm in length- 7cm high. Returned few days later to find them all gone.Does anyone know what they are?

  • Slime mold (Physarum polycephalum)
    Confidence: It might be this.
  • beetle eggs
    Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.

Certainly a slime mould but not Physarum polycephalum which is not found in the UK as it is a tropical species.
