Description:

These small bees are nesting in drilled fence posts in our garden. I think it is Hylaeus, but is it possible to get the species ? The legs are yellow and black.

H. communis

Apparently the paraocular marking (the outer two of the three white marks on the face) curve inwards above the antennal insertion, partially surrounding it, in the male of H. communis, so likely that is what this is.

Thanks, that is more or less

Thanks, that is more or less what I had read elsewhere, and also that is the commonest species of the genus. I have a couple more to try that I will upload later. Cheers, M.
