The plant the Burnet moth is on looks like one of the orchids. Maybe an Early Purple Orchid (Orchis mascula) - Might be worth going back for a look at the plant as well!?

Orchid

I have tried to determine the species of this orchid but have not yet succeeded.

The early purple orchids down in this part of the world seem largely to be over, except perhaps on higher ground. And this plant had no spots on the leaves.

I considered as to whether it might be a southern marsh orchid from its appearance but wondered whether the habitat was wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd love to be able to return to the Hayle Estuary but I am afraid that this is unlikely to happen before this plant is completely over.
