Description:

A good number flying with the Large Skippers. Unlike the Large Skippers these did not have spotted underwings.

First sighting?

At the time of writing, there's no 2011 'first sighting' record of a Small Skipper on the Butterfly Conservation main website, nor on the pages of the Upper Thames Branch.

If you were to send them this photo, I'm sure they'd be happy to confirm it for you.

I will do. Unfortunately none of the skippers were settling long enough to open their wings to make a more positive ID.
