Brown moth with black markings

Observed: 2nd June 2011 By: ChalkieChalkie’s reputation in InvertebratesChalkie’s reputation in InvertebratesChalkie’s reputation in Invertebrates

Description:

Suspect it may not normally be a day-flyer - I think I disturbed it. I've tried the uk-moths key word search but couldn't find anything similar. It was about 3cm long, and very well camouflaged in the dead grass.

thank you

A bit of internet hunting around - it looks right - and there was tufted vetch growing at the same site (larval foodplant).
