Grass snake

It was once believed grass snakes suckled from cow's udders as they are often found sheltering by cows lying down.

Hello Graham, I'd not heard

Hello Graham, I'd not heard this in connection with grass snakes before, very interesting. You hear this in many parts of the world with different snakes. It's why milk snakes in north and central America have the name they do, I've also heard it about leopard snakes in Greece.
